deja vu

These two girls had lots of fun at the ocean together...just like their mamas used to (and still do!) A few times we had to just laugh at how great it is that here we are again - at the beach - in the sun - so relaxing... wait a minute? - with our kids???  ~~~and we wouldn't change a thing~~~ well, except we're missing half of our friendsforever beach crew (Barb and Bev, get your kiddos out here too)

something must have been really funny?!

Would you rather?

Seeing these pictures in the same month of my picture files reminded me of a silly game my friends and I used to play... Would you rather? Questions like "Would you rather be deaf or blind?" or usually more sarcastic questions like "Would you rather have a 1972 Mercedes (Heather) a 1969 bug (me - hated that car) or a 1980something Honda civic (Barb)?" OK that one was a toss-up :) Anyway, I'll stop before I reveal how immature we really were, here's my Would you rather? pictures...

So would you rather see a dust cloud out your back door?

                                                    OR.....

Gee that's a hard one.

What wonderful fun Emma and I had in Monterey playing in the sand
with Heather, Miss Mae, and sweet Olivia!

I think she's gonna be a climber...

Good thing my girl likes milk - because I think we're going to be needing very strong bones! From the first day she figured out how to climb, it's been her mission to find something new to climb, higher to climb, more-reaction-from-mom to climb. Oh this child makes my days so much fun - what did I ever do without her?

~~~perfect peace~~~
Last weekend Clinton and I decided to take a spur-of-the-moment fishing "date" to the delta... there was a free afternoon of no harvesting, my mom so willingly took Emma to her house, the boat was open, so off we went! I packed up a picnic dinner and we were set :) It was so peaceful - and all week I have been thinking of the peace that Christ offers us every day. Not just the not-busy, on-vacation, no-children-along days - but every day. So many verses have ran through my mind this past week about the peace that has been promised (yes, promised!) to God's children, and I've resolved to reach out and allow Jesus to fill every moment with His peace - even in the midst of busyness.
"Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee." Isa. 26:3
"The Lord will give strength to His people: the Lord will bless His people with peace." Ps. 29:11
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Jn. 14:27
Once upon a time...
... there were 3 sweet puppies
then "Marley" flew away to live with his very excited new family in South Carolina...
and "Rosco" went to live with the newlywed Callaways...
 now "Buddy" is going to live with his very smitten mama in the Bay Area!
~~~ So we will only have these 3 spaniels to keep us entertained ~~~

and live happily ever after!

Almonds and almonds!

Yesterday we loaded up and went to take dinner to the guys out in the field. Emma was quite intrigued with all the bbtthhhpppbbbdddnnnn's driving around! She had lots of fun playing in the almonds and scattering all those nice straight windrows ;) What an exciting time of year!

Harvest

As I'm seeing lots of this...

it made me think of these verses >>> "When Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray to the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into His harvest." - Matt. 9:36-38

Last September...this September.

So I was thinking about last late summer/fall... and how crazy it is that one year can change so much.
For instance - this was Emma last year when we were making applesauce (icky applesauce - ahem? Mary?)

She was what - maybe 8 apples long???
Fast forward a year to 2010 making applesauce and.... seriously ~ must time go so quickly????
My tiny, babygirl and big cousin Averi making applesauce

I love comparing pictures from year to year (unless they're of me!). Now, more than ever, it makes me realize just how fast time flies. I pray I will treasure these moments as I should...
